4 Beauty Tips for Hand Tied Hair Extensions
Just like your accessories, your hair can transform and enhance your look. Here are some tips to keeping your hand-tied extensions looking gorgeous.
Use a sulfate-free shampoo
It is important to properly care for and cleanse your hair extensions on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. When it is wash day, be sure you are using a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. Sulfate-free shampoo cleanses your hair without stripping the hair of natural oils and moisture.
Use a hair mask
Use a hair oil to add shine and moisture
Since hand-tied extensions are not your natural hair, the hair is not getting the natural oil that your scalp produces. Throughout the day, you may notice some slight tangling, especially at the nape of your neck. Why does this happen? It's a combination of friction, heat from your neck, and dryness. To prevent tangling, it's a good idea to carry hair oil. Use a pea-size amount of oil and brush through the area that is tangled. Just be sure not to add too much oil!
Use a wet brush to brush your extensions in a downward direction, from the ends to the wefts. Brush before washing and after washing your hair extensions. Use a mild shampoo and conditioner to wash your hair. Apply gently; let your hair air dry. Also, never sleep with wet hair extensions. Do not use heating tools on your hair extensively; it destroys the hair.
For managing, if your hair is tangling at your nape, use oil to resolve it. Brush your hair during the day and also practice finger-comb on your nape. Always use alcohol-free and sulfate-free products to avoid damage to your natural hair and hair extensions.
